Immediately following Cheat Codes was easily the darkhorse performance of the festival, Lil Uzi Vert. LA natives, Cheat Codes gave an impressively packed audience a unique performance blending a DJ set with a trademark vocalist. Friday continued to ping-pong back and forth between both EDM and hip-hop artists with rising artists. The impressive DJ has been featured on many DJ’s mixes this year including juggernauts Tiesto and Don Diablo. When the gates opened on Friday, Columbus native, Corrupt took the main stage.

Of course you have your headliners, but there isn’t an unfamiliar name on the list. The lineup for Breakaway isn’t necessarily tiered type of bill.

It’s always nice to have a festival where it really is all about the music, and Breakaway certainly made that very clear.

You had a main bar, some sponsor tents, and a really cool silent disco tent that played inconspicuously played throughout the day. The giant main stage stared right at you at the front entrance. Once you entered inside the venue you realized that Breakaway is about music and music only. But 2016 has been a pretty huge year in the music world compared to years past, so Breakaway decided to follow suit. With some of the world’s biggest acts in the EDM and Hip-Hop spectrum, Breakaway has certainly garnered itself as one of the premier festivals in the country in its respected field backed by an alumni featuring Bassnectar, Kendrick Lamar, and Empire of the Sun to name a few. However, with all of the commotion going on inside of campus, something even bigger was happening just a mile away at the Ohio Expo Center. It seemed like 48 hours of nonstop music in the city of Columbus this past weekend, as students from across the country came back on to campus at Ohio State University blaring music from their houses and dorm rooms. The Ultra VIP $699 2-day pass will include the regular VIP perks in addition to a side-stage viewing platform, merchandise voucher and after-party access. The 2-day VIP package will go for $185 and guarantees your access to the express entry lane, private viewing area and VIP lounge. For those in search of additional perks, the festival provides VIP and Ultra VIP experiences. A single-day general admission pass is $55, while two-day general admission is $90. The music festival will take place at Fair Park fairgrounds at 4 p.m. To top it all off, Breakaway promises a wide assortment of food truck fare for festival-goers to munch on throughout the day. Fuji Film will also be in attendance and is organizing a mobile photo studio where you’ll be able to have an instant photoshoot with all of your friends using Fuji’s backgrounds and props. The festival is introducing “Roller Disco” for those who want to rollerblade to live, DJ-curated disco music. Beyond these acclaimed artists, the festival will also feature a Silent Disco with an impressive range of up and coming DJs including Achilles and Billy Cave.īesides its lineup, Breakaway has upgraded to include a multitude of food vendors and other unique activities for when you need a break from the bass drop. The festival promises to deliver hip-hop and EDM hits with notable headliners including Future, Lil Baby and Kaskade. Prime Social Group, a college-market festival promotion company, is bringing their second iteration of Breakaway Music Festival in Nashville to Fair Park this weekend.
